Every once in a while I hear a song that reminds me just why we say God is love. A song that makes it hard to really figure out just who the singer is serenading. You have to step back and ask yourself a few questions. Is this a song about longing for the physical touch of another human? Is this a beautiful worship song about longing to be closer to God? These songs are blatant reminders that real love in it's truest form is God's energy whether you're sharing it person to person or in reverence to God alone.
This one in particular is a fave. It's written by one of my closest friends, Douglas Whatley (of the Whatleys lol). I remember the day he called me to the studio and said, "I wrote this song called Monsters.. tell me what you think." I thought it was perfect and a beautiful offering of expression from him. Dougie never really released Monsters for some reason. He performed it a few times, but didn't give us the final product. Thankfully, a great song never ages! Here we are about four years later, and the track is finally making it's official release by way of an artist I am almost desperate to #Kosign!!
Joy Conaway is her name! It's a name you'll be seeing more of I am sure. Her charm is just as delicious as her voice, and together they captivate! In photographs, Joy always seems to have a sunflower near by, and in real life she brings that beaming energy everywhere she goes. After making a name for herself here in Atlanta, it's now time for folks outside of the city to get to know her sound. Monsters is the perfect introduction! Her version of it, produced by the Gigabots.. is nothing less than ideal. Her humility on the track captures that of the very first time I heard the writer sing it, but it's definitely done Joy's way. It's simply beautiful, and elevated to something even more impressive with Joy's touch.
Joy is going to sing and smile her way into everybody's hearts and playlists this year. I'm just excited to sit here and watch it all unfold. Get into her first single, Monsters from her upcoming EP dropping soon! Head over to www.JoyConaway.com to stay connected with Joy, and stay tuned for her EP!
