On the 4th of July, we Tidal subscribers got a special treat from Lil Wayne. His new project FWA was unexpected. Weezy has been making headlines lately not really for his music, but for the drama surrounding his home team and supposed right hand man Baby and Cash Money. I think this interview is one of the best we've gotten from Wayne in a while. He gives us details on some stuff we've never really heard him allude to before.
In the interview with Wild Wayne the industry vet opens up about his early beginnings. He spoke about leaving the rhymes on Baby's voicemail everyday in high school, how much Juvenile encouraged him as a young rapper, and how easy music is for him to make. Wayne also gave big ups to Lil Slim, Yella Boy, and Kilo G. He talks about being a huge Jay Z fan, which he and I have in common! Respect for that.
Weezy gets into how Young Money came about, how he feels about Young Thug and Cash Money, how he had to be sold on Drake (crazy huh!!??), and lots more. This is a great interview! Wild Wayne and Q93 always delivers. He also announces he's returning to his home city for Lil Weezyana Fest, which he's hoping to make an annual thing! Super dope. I know I haven't blogged much Wayne recently, but here is a post for the crazy in me email hitting me up about chicks that don't matter..lol. Enjoy.
