The Academy Awards this year were highly anticipated by some mainly due to the riveting motion picture Selma's nominations. The song 'Glory' written and performed by John Legend and Common draws it's inspiration from the story of Selma and the fight for civil rights that still exists today.
The two performers not only delivered yet another soul stirring performance of the powerful ballad, but they also brought home the award for Best Original Song! Legend and Common made sure to use their acceptance speech time once again to honor the legacy of the people who have fought the fight of civil rights in the past. They also spoke about the importance of unity and the reality that the fight for civil rights is still on going.
Another performance and Oscar moment that I LOVED was Gaga's tribute to Sound of Music followed by a surprise appearance by Julie Andrews! You can see that performance below just after the 'Glory' moment!
If you missed their performance and acceptance speeches, see them below! Glory!
