Common & John Legend Give Moving Acceptance Speech for "Glory" Win at Golden Globes

Last night's Golden Globes Awards were packed with hopeful artists, waiting to hear their names and films recognized. One of the highlights of the night for me was when Common and John Legend took home the Best Original Song for Glory from the Motion picture Selma.

The song encapsulates the vision and meaning behind the film so well. I was rooting for this win, even though I wasn't sure these guys would get it. The film itself focuses on the harsh realities of the struggle to give all Americans the right to vote in this country. The song ties all of our struggles together from voting rights to what happened just last year in Ferguson.

In true Common fashion, he spoke as only he can about his identity in America and how much work we still have to do to respect it. Yall know Common is one of my baes, so I was so geeked to hear him speak his peace to this crowd on this stage. As he would say-Love.

See his speech below, and a full list of GG winners after that courtesy of CNN. Congrats guys!

P.S. GO SEE SELMA! It is riveting!
