One thing is for sure, no matter how horrible music sales are- people are still listening to music. This is why it was brilliant for Dr. Dre to get into the business of producing the best head phones a music lover has ever experienced. People will always buy those- even if they cost around $300!
It seems as though Dre's smart business moves keep coming because he's reportedly in talks with Apple to sell his beloved Beats for 3.2 BILLION! This would make Dre the first "billionaire" in Hip Hop.
Apple has been struggling just a little to maintain relevancy and product engagement. The once very popular and top of the line culture has slid beneath it's normal cutting edge mentality. This deal for Beats may put it right back where it needs to be.
It's not too shabby news for Dre either, considering the financial woes he's faced in years past via grimey label deals. It looks like he can toss a few bucks to the folks who tried to keep him broke now. Crazy how life works isn't it?
While there has been no official statement from Dre or Apple that the deal is closed, the cat was let out of the bag last night by Tyrese on Facebook. He boasted that he was in the studio with Dre on a historic night as Dre inked a deal for 3.2 B with Apple. Whether it's in ink or not, we'd like to congratulate Dre on being an innovator and business man. I for one am a huge fan of my Beats.
