This past weekend so many relief efforts continued to assist the people of the Philippines. After such a tragic natural disaster, they need all of the help they can get.
As many people around the world came together to give, a familiar name & face joined them. Chris Brown stopped by to help his friend Dom DeLuca and a few others load trucks full of supplies for victims of the typhoon at the LA Brooklyn Projects location. Chris sent out a tweet saying how good the turn out was, but most of us had no clue what he was talking about.
Arguably one of the most talented artists on the planet, and one of the most known-somehow he managed to fly beneath the radar for this charitable act. It didn't really come to head until Dom himself came on twitter to thank Chris for coming through, tweeting:
"@chrisbrown came thru @bklynprojects today. No press. No paparazzi. Just to help me and some friends out loading trucks for the Philippines"
Now a days people like to broadcast when & where they'll be lending a helping hand.. For whatever the reason. I found it commendable that Chris got a call & could help out, so he did. Chris also made a donation to the effort.
It's fair to say that this isn't the side of Chris you'll see from most media. For whatever the reason, these acts by him are often overlooked. While I so feel like Chris is on his way to being a better person & has made some poor decisions- we all are & have...but are we all out giving of our time & resources to help others? The "troubled star" as many would like to brand him has one leg up on most there.
This is a blessing. Kudos to Dom, Brooklyn Projects, Chris, & all others who took part in this commendable efforts.
While Chris has managed to do a lot of giving back and partying, he's still been working on new music. Tonight he's releasing six free songs for his fans via a mix tape, X Files. It's sort of a hold over for Team Breezy as his next album X has been pushed back. The mixtape is a lot of what we've come to expect from Chris.
A standout among the others is Love 2 Remember, it has fans and Chris' peers all talking. In it, Chris Brown sings of suicide and wanting someone to love him. The lyrics have caused many people to reach out to the pop star via twitter. Other celebs like Joe Budden elaborated on how much he identified with the lyrics and how he's worried about Chris. Hopefully there are people around CB to keep him lifted, and hopefully CB is seeking the assistance he needs to be in a happier and healthier place.
The content of that song is pretty heavy, but Chris keeps it light and fun on a few others. Check out the new songs below featuring Ludacris, Kid Ink, and Busta Rhymes.
