Black Girls Rock 2013 Performances

This show has to be one of the best on television. Black Girls Rock comes on once a year and it highlights the beautiful women of color who are forces for good in their communities. It's always a great show not just for the charitable efforts and honorees, but it's just great to see so many talented and committed women celebrating each other.

The performances are always on point as well. This year, Janell Monae, Amber Riley, and Ledisi were some of my favorites. Also hitting the stage was Kelly Rowland and Sevyn Streeter who definitely did their thing, Jennifer Hudson, Alice Smith, and of course the lady of the night, Ms. Patti LaBelle!

Hosted by Traci Ellis Ross and Regina King, the show was a huge success. It always leaves you feeling empowered and ready to do something to impact others. Along with Patti LaBelle the show honored Venus Williams, Queen Latifah, Misty Copeland, Mara Brock Akil, Ameena Matthews, and my Spelman Sister,  Marian Wright Edelmen!

This show definitely aimed to show love to women making a difference across the board, and I love that. If you missed this year's Black Girls Rock! be sure to catch it when you can. In the meantime, I've got the performances for you below.

  1. I get so inspired watching this program every year. Here at Mizzou we have "Black Women Rock" in the spring semester and I am on the committee! This makes me even more excited to watch everything come together here! :)
