Newark Mayor Cory Booker Saves Woman from Fire

Mayor of Newark, Cory Booker is no stranger to action. He's well loved and appreciated by many for his heart for the people. I first heard of him on Oprah a while back and even she was totally impressed by his sincere servant mentality.

This mentality seems to have come to head in the most obvious way last night. Just as Mayor Booker was returning homt from an interview he noticed his neighbor's house on fire. He heard her yelling for help and immediately ran inside. His security attempted to hold him back, but he was determined to heed the cries of the lady inside.

Booker, 42, says that at one point he thought he was going to die in there, but then a peace came over him and he was able to press forward. He successfully rescued the lady and they both were taken to the hospital.

He suffered smoke inhalation and second degree burns to his hand. He is quoted as saying it was a "Come to Jesus" moment, but that all was well. He took to his twitter to reassure:

Thanks 2 all who are concerned. Just suffering smoke inhalation. We got the woman out of the house. We are both off to hospital. I will b ok.
He tweeted Friday.. gotta love this guy.
